Having been self
employed as a builder/designer developer from the age of 21
years my first CV becomes more daunting than constructing a
block of apartments.
However, building/design has come to represent
both work and leisure and the additional benefit of 40 years
in the industry working with various professionals/artisans/clients
has given me what I think is the best grounding available to
project/ design/interpret peoples needs.
My portfolio of works covers single family homes,
apartment blocks, offices, restaurants, retail outlets, listed
buildings, thatched cottages, night clubs and more. The afore
mentioned have mostly been self financed as both designer and
developer and carried out with a very "hands on" work
ethic.
Having given you an insight into the man it might
not be surprising that the UK no longer offers any intrigue/challenges
in development.
So we have moved our interests into Italy (we
being myself and my wife Lyndsay who is the calming element
in my more "Gung Ho" approach to projects).
The UK has been the base of my operations other
than a three year sojourn in America constructing property
on the water in the Gulf of Mexico. So Italy is my second
departure from the UK in search of challenges new.
The rawness of Puglia captivated me, it reminded
me of Estapona (Spain) 30 years ago. The mixture of weather/food/countryside/beaches
and affordable properties and land conjoured up a vision that
we
couldn't resist.
Having visited the area on four occasions we
alighted on the potential development site which ticked all
the boxes in the 'twighlight of my career, where the soul of
the property is more important than the financial renumeration.
Also who could resist an area where two people can eat pizza/starter/bottle
of local wine plus tip for 20euros, but conversely a night
at a local 5 star hotel Masseria
San Domenico could reach in
excess of 4000euros.
